Some of you might have noticed there has been a working party carrying our pruning and remedial work on the north side of the station - West Bay Station! This is one of the groups set up by WBCF to enhance the area. The new owner of the Station Cafe has already done a lot of work on the station building returning it to its GWR colouring of brown and white. Soon she hopes to be opening it as a yet another place to enjoy a pleasant break in station surroundings - shades of Brief Encounter! WBCF is helping out by keeping the area neat and tidy in conjunction with WDDC. Over the coming months there will be more work done and then maintained, anyone interested in becoming part of this work group please get in touch.
Sometimes what is said for improving the area does get listened to, the Shelter on the Promenade is in the process of being painted. We had a lot of comments about its condition over the summer months and obviously they got to the right person - thank-you! Hopefully it will retain its pristine look for next summer.
However still no sign of bins under the West Cliff, a whole summer without proper refuse containers!

Whats needed at that station car park is to get rid of those stacks of concrete blocks left behind that once supported the portaloo, they should have been removed when the new permanent block opened ,so simple a clout with a digger bucket and they would crumble,a real eyesore ,as is the heaps of hardcore there on pumping station side ,tipped by council dumper truck in spring ,I have requested numerous times that its spread in pot holes especially in front of recycle banks (especially in front of plastic/tin ) have sent photos so many times of puddles ,eventually they replied saying they would look into it ,then a few weeks ago a little was spread but not in front of bins ,its like banging your head against a brick wall!! or in this case a heap of chippings ! The photo of the missing bin I sent did result in its replacement near ticket machine but like you say the ones on concrete promenade below West Cliff are still absent ,so people drop their bags of dog faeces wherever they feel like it ,or chuck it on bank, they could easily have sited a couple of ones from the abundance near bus terminal ,I suggested that but again falls on deaf ears !!
